"Ooo! Pep assembly tomorrow" "Oh, goodie" "What, you don't like pep assemblies?" "I just don't see why the whole school has to be corralled into the gym so the cheer squad can leap around and whip us into a frenzy of adoration for the team" "Solving a tough equation is just as thrilling as making a touchdown. But are there any cheers for that? No." "You go, girl"

I hate pep rallies. They get the all the students and teachers (about or over 1000 people!) and they all scream. And don’t stop. For over an hour and a half. Oh, and did I mention that the band likes to play really loudly, too?

Come to think of it, the amount of people in the gym might be too much, making it illegal… I need to check that.

Pep Rallies: wherein public schools, in a scene reminiscent of Pink Floyd’s THE WALL, take two hours of valuable teaching time to frogmarch their entire 1,000+ student body into a small gym and induce them to cheer for the same classmates who’ve been giving them swirlies all year.

God, I always hated pep rallies; they always gave me that Nuremberg feeling… Of course I was a nerd as well.
