Anyone else think this was Pastis’s way of celebrating his fortieth birthday? It specifies in a later strip that he is forty-three three years from now.

I’m writing this in 2022, remembering when this was in the newspaper in… 2009 (!!!) and how it reminded me then and now how even a few minutes pushing our son and daughter on a swing (ok, sure, then, when they were little) made up for so many extra hours at the office… thank you, Stephan Pastis for all of Pearls, especially this days’ strip!
