Frazz: Lalo! I heard your grades are slipping. Lalo: No biggie. My dream is to be an artist. Any kind of backup plan will only make me soft and get in my way. Frazz: Chuck Yeager's X-I didn't go any slower because he wore a parachute. Lalo: If I'd paid attention in history, would I understand that?

Technically, the weight of the parachute may have had some minuscule effect on the acceleration and possibly the top speed, so, it is a maybe reasonable to assume it did go a teeny-tiny bit slower because he wore a parachute.
