How come this is the first time I’ve seen Capt.n Eddie’s cat off his shoulder and on a (gasp) excuse of a boat. And speaking of Eddie and stories, did he tell you about the time he was helping Noah and this terrible Notheasah blew in?The Capt,h was off the coat of Bangah with about 40 cubits by 40 cubits of lobstah when he Heard a voice. Eddie. Eddie.. I want you to build a comic arc with two of every kind at the dinner, and Danae, and All the creature WILEY has brought to the earth. I want you to build this comic arc so long that everyone will stop reading it and read Family Circus and Mary Worth and other worthy (no pun) strips. Then I will make the typesetter strike for 40 days and 40 nights and all the newspapers will be washed away. I don’t have 8 hours to tell the tale like Eddie would.
Forty business days. As in the forty days of Lent (which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter, the seventh Sunday, 46 calendar days later), sabbath days aren’t counted.
then there’s the one about life spontaneously generating from inorganic matter. Never happened in any lab experiment we had to duplicate the original planetary conditions. never happened anyplace we’ve ever seen, but we can base a whole science on it. You guys want to talk about a fable! But that naturalistic superstition for you. We are all made of star stuff but that’s not necessarily what “scientists” are full of. ;-)
So, freeholder1, just out of curiosity, if a self-replicating chemical reaction didn’t eventually lead to life, and you (presumably) believe that life was generated from God, exactly how did God, a complex intelligent being, spontaneously generate from whatever inorganic matter he sprang from?
No one with any sense worships the Bible, masterskrain — it’s only an object, a book. Rather, they worship one who is greater and better than they are, whom they learn of from the Bible..However, everyone, without exception, worships something. If not something greater and better than yourself, then you must be worshipping yourself — or worse, something smaller and meaner than yourself..Either way, you would be a very difficult and unrewarding person to be around…my sympathies.
Remember the story of Jonah and the Whale, where the Whale swallowed Jonah, then three days later cast him up on the shore? The moral is… You Can’t Keep a Good Man Down.
@masterskrain: I’ve always liked Mark Twain’s take on that good Book (from Letters From The Earth); (from Letter III, p.14 in the paperback;) “It is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies.”

The Editors weren’t keen on “Rub a dub dub…” either.

This strip kind of reminds me of Mr. Archimedes Bath…except the waters on the outside.
On a side note; isn’t that Capt’n Eddie’s cat squeezed in there?!?

The size of that rig will grow like the “Fish-I-Caught-Story”.

Did the asexual reproduction species get to go on “one by one”? They’re now saying 8-10 million species, he IS going to need a bigger bucket.

As a side note, I was taught in Bible class that the number 40 simply indicates a long time; it’s not literal.
