Calvin: The new issue of Chewing tells how to stay in top chewing condition over the winter! Hobbes: What's so hard about that? You can chew gum all year. Calvin: We serious chewers need a lot more than strong jaw muscles, you know! To chew hour after hour, we need a total cross-training fitness regime! Hobbes: So the idea is to increase the amount of this hobby you can endure. Calvin: Right. When you're good at it, it's really miserable.

We never saw Calvin chewing gum all that much, if ever. He liked to identify with it way more than he liked doing it
