I backpacked up on the continental divide in early November some years back. Weather turned real ugly with rain that turned to a foot of wet snow. my Airedale got soaked and in the trail tent she was shivering. I fed her a candy bar and got her in my sleeping bag. she eventually warmed up and we made it out the next day. she was so grateful to be kept warm. this same dog liked to sleep outside for hours at -20F. it was just that she got drenched and the wind was howling.
