Back when I used to raise 5000 birds a year, we would put one in the dog pen and fatten him up to 30+ pounds. My wife would feed him and call him Tom. I think she secretly knew why Tom “got away” a few days before Thanksgiving.
I had an uncle name Tom… on my dad’s side… who my aunt Louise… on my mother’s side (it is a little complex)… kept in a dog pen… he often escaped and we’d have to roam the neighbourhood calling out his name… he’d never come home on his own…
