Our little girl’s growing up …

Wow! This is a high water mark for this strip. Major changes in character are of necessity rare. The only other big change that I recall was Brad changing from a dorky slob to a hero Firefighter. I wonder if there is something big on the horizon that Greg can see …

Woah, she’s sincere about letting him move on from her. I have to hand it to her, yesterday I wasn’t sure she actually wanted him to go with Rosa, but now that she’s proven she is it’s nice to see it. I hope this doesn’t mean that Gunther’s going to get written out the strip since his crush was such a long standing defining thing about him.

I figured I might as well put that out there and scoop the trolls. Yer welcome, guys!

Uff! I feel as if I’ve been hit in the stomach! Luann, all mature and “grown-up” about her long-time pal-not-boyfriend? What may this portend?

Attagirl Luann! Yup, she’s growing up!

He’s really special to me, but I’ll never love him the way he hopes I will.Translation: Yeah, Gunther’s always gonna be my plan B for when I get rejected by every single slice of beefcake I come across. Fat chance that’s gonna happen. There’s gotta be at least one cute boy who wants some of this.Rosa’s perfect for him, and I told him that.Translation: I give it three months, tops. Then he’s gonna crawl back to my feet and beg me to be his girlfriend like always. It’s so cute when he gets his heart crushed. His desperation is so intoxicating!

I could see this coming. I mean the maturing of Luann. The first hint was right after Brad had gotten laid off and he came to his parents house and told everyone the news. The next day’s strip showed him and Luann sitting on the couch in the living room. She displayed family love by consoling him and urging him to keep his chin up. Also, by telling her mother, how Gunther fits into her life. She has drawn a line in the sands of her life, that would make it very difficult to renege on what she has told her mother today regarding her true feelings for Gunther.

<3 Yep, Luann has grown up and stopped tagging poor Gunther along. She’s cutting him loose for him to find love with another girl. Who knew? Who knew Gunther would let that happen, either? One would think Gunther would carry torch for Luann for eternal. Proves Gunther is like Luann in that she stopped carrying torch for Aaron as well.

Uh, huh. Suuuuuuuure, Luann. Soon. Very Soon, YOU will realize that Gunther is gonna be like that ‘thing’ you SOLD on eBay once. And EVERYDAY, thereafter, WISHED the HECK You’d KEPT!

everyone needs a really good friend…no strings..no false promises…just real friendship.a valuable and rare comodity..Luann is that friend for Gunther, and he for her..he is just not quite as aware of it as she is….this will be a life long friendship…and yay! for Gunther if he goes for the date and possible relationship with Rosa

How about this instead. He attends the Fashion Institute of Technology, gets hired by one of the major fashion houses and becomes the newest wunderkind designer and makes millions after he starts his own designer label. And he is straight.

nothing selfless about it. She always was having to be careful about not hurting Gunther. Now that he can concentrate his efforts on Rosa, Luann can worry less that her feelings toward Quill will hurt Gunthers ego.

Oh, so all Latinos, half or not, are hot? Wow. That is such a stereotypical statement. There is around 50% Latino population in my state and I’ve seen less-than-hot Latinos. They are as human as anyone else. Being hot has nothing to do with ethnic background. It is the personality of the person and Rosa doesn’t come off as “hot” to me. She just seems nice and perhaps flirty in a cute way towards Gunther. Tiffany likes to think she is hot when she is just a brat who is high maintenance and a huge flirt. Rosa is more like Toni than Tiffany. Even Tiffany flirted with Gunther in an attempt to get back at Luann. Tiffany, one of your favorites, is not beneath getting hot on Gunther.

There have been signs of growing up for awhile now. Look at how she interacts with Quill. MUCH more mature than previous boyfriends.

LOL sure you are. ;-) No offense, but your ethnic background doesn’t give you license to impose your standards on other people. In fact, this one statements says a lot about the person you are. I’ve seen plastic kiddie pools that arent as shallow as you.

Yes I saw Snax on the box, too. SNAX is the Wall St marker for the ‘snackhealthy’ line of food. But what she has is prob. something more fatty like Cheese-Its. But she can take it, never gains weight.

FYI, this forum is supposedly about open discussion about the subjects in the cartoon strip…not about name-calling or ego posturing among the commentors.

IMHO, Luann is simply facing the fact that she needlessly clung to Gunther because she feared she’d never attract a more attractive fellow. Being friends with Quill increased her self-esteem to the point she can allow Gunther to pursue a more promising relationship.

Gunther may have designed a dress but he doesn’t project the image of a ‘closet gay’. He was certainly flattered about Rosa’s attention to him.

We have fun sometimes.

I don’t think it’s selfless and mature. I think it’s BS whenever someone is like ‘oh that guy is really sweet and would make someone really happy but I don’t like him in that way.’ It basically means ‘that guy isn’t hot,’ the whole ’he’ll make someone really happy’ is bs, if that’s how you feel then why don’t you like him.

Yeah. Who are you, and what happened to Luann?
