Transparency is an illusion. No politician brings transparency into government, no matter how popular he or she is. And yes, it smells like bull—— because it is.
When in a college journalism course, I got to work with the state Capitol bureau chief for one of the metropolitan TV stations. I got a press pass and was able to get on the floor of the House and Senate. And let me tell you. They say you should not see sausage being made. The same can be said for legislation. It is an ugly process. And some days you needed hipwaders to get through the bull….

I think the Senator meant to say, “our government inaction,” not, “our government in action.”
