Mr. Pinkley: According to one survey, 22% of all workers will spend 13 or more hours Christmas shopping on their office computers during office hours! Need I clarify how large a blunder it could be to use your time this way in this economy?? Woman: Is that 13 hours per day or per week?? Man: Also, if we're here that late, does it count as overtime?

that’s what corporate firewalls are for Mr. Pinkley!

Maybe if they only shopped during coffee breaks and the lunch hour–?

Holiday shopping, Mr. Pinkley. Some of your employees may be shopping for Hannukah, you know. Don’t just automatically assume that everyone is preparing to observe Christmas simply because the majority is.

No legaleagle48 CHRISTMAS shopping. Though Mr. Pinkly should probably know what faith his employees are and if some are Jewish he could say Christmas or Hannukah. But I read somewhere that Jewish people are not so “offended” about Christmas as the stupid idiot ACLU who wants to take away all Christian rights.

We don’t want to “take away all Christian rights”, Macushlalondra – we just want everyone else’s rights to be recognized alongside yours. There’s a big difference between the two.
It is both arrogant and sinful to boldy declare that just because you’re in the majority, everyone should just go along, and if they don’t like it, tough. There are other cultures and peoples besides yours (which were around long before your ilk came along and will be around long after your ilk has left the scene), and it’s high time they got the recognition and respect that you so stridently demand for yourself but would deny to them simply because you claim that it’s your inherent right as a member of the majority to do so. Might doesn’t always make right, and history shows time and time again that “majority rule” and “because I said so” are extremely poor foundations on which to build sound public policy.
Crack open a book once in a while, and get over this silly need to have your practices and customs be the only ones that matter.
And another thing: Happy Holidays! :)

WOW - two whole days at the office
But apparently no one is working since they have to go to a meeting about how unproductive they are

Where I work at the computers and internet are monitor. I am pt but do scanning and this scanner is very senitive so I do not try to endanger this as I have enough problems. Coworkers have tried Twitting and facebook could get in trouble and I do not use gocomics at work.

So you work for the ACLU legaleagle? I’ve always wanted to meet someone who worked for that organization.
I have no problem with others celebrating other holidays other than Christmas. What I have a problem with is the ACLU trying to take Christmas away from those of us who celebrate it by making laws that we can’t hear Christmas carols in public, have nativity scenes in public, no Bible verses can be seen in public, you can’t find Christmas cards in stores, only “holiday” cards, Christmas trees are called holiday trees, and stores will not use Christmas in their advertising, lest they offend people, but they sure will take your money as you buy Christmas gifts for people.
I wouldn’t force someone who was not a Christian to celebrate Christmas, I couldn’t do that. But neither do I want that person or anyone else to take Christmas from me or attempt to, since really Christmas is celebrated in the heart.
Merry Christmas!

I never said that I did, Macushlalondra. I only meant that I understand where they’re coming from on this issue, and that I’m staunchly in their corner.
And that’s my final word on the subject. These discussions tend to go far enough off-topic as it is, so let’s just agree to disagree and call it a day. :)
