Uggghhhh. Not only do things cost more in Canada but there’s no free shipping from the states and we have to pay some nit duty fee besides!

Free shipping! That makes my day, too. I’ve saved a bundle.

If an American buys enough stuff from amazon.com, they don’t have to pay shipping. If a Canadian buys enough stuff from amazon.ca, they don’t have to pay shipping either. Boy, have I saved a lot of money in shipping these last few months!

We get all sorts of e-mails offering “free shipping to Canada” Yeah, then they ship UPs rather than post and we pay at least $20 for “customs agent” fees… Not falling into that one again! Get things shipped to family in the US for free and they ship it here for much less. The worst was some “free samples” we didn’t even request. That company got a letter from us (didn’t do any good other than vent steam off…..)

I agree about the shipping to Canada ordeal. I pretty much stopped buying from the US when I got dinged $20 for a $10 cd, grrrrr. I would order from Amazon.com but they don’t ship the things I want to Canada and they don’t carry them on the .ca site. I would almost never have to leave the house if amazon.ca was the same as amazon.com, lol!

Almost all of my holiday shopping has been from Amazon.com this season.
The best buys are from the used and new book sellers. You find the book you want and click on the link under Amazon’s price. If it’s for me, I don’t mind used books. If it’s a gift I buy the cheapest new. Watch the venders, tho. Read their feedback rating to get the best dealer you can count on. Don’t wait till too late to order, either. Some can be slow. You do have to pay shipping this way, so figure it into the cost of the book. Most times it comes to less than Amazon’s price.

Avolunteer, you might also contact Better Business Burau (sp?) and the district attorney for the state of that company.
