BTW Pastis cleans up nice in that first panel. Too bad his tie goes all ‘Dilbert’.

I’d already tried right-clicking the images, as I always did on Comics.com, to get to the individual strips, and found it didn’t work here.For some reason it never entered my pointy little brain to try the title…… Duh. What will I do with all those clicks I’ll save? Maybe I can donate them to a castanet factory in some developing country.

Cartoon-Pastis cleaned up well for his court appearance. And then his attorney sold him out! A guy can’t catch a break, it seems! —Unless, maybe, this is one of those bleeding heart judges, and he takes pity on cartoon-Pastis….

I see Pastis wants to retire.

If Pastis dies, Rat dies.

Notice the bodies switch left to right between the front and back views (he’s on Rat’s right in the front view and on his left in the rear view). Wonder how that will get worked into the strip.

I was wondering why he put a different man for the “defendant” part, just realized he’s just not wearing his usual baseball cap!

Can’t wear a hat in court….doesn’t have a cigarette hanging out of his mouth either (even though in real life Pastis doesn’t smoke).

I’m a little surprised that Rat is serving as S.P.’s lawyer. I was certain it would be a Pro Bonobo case.

is this the first strip where his gotee/beard is actually the correct color? It has always looked black to me previously.

Always fun when your lawyer gets disbarred for behavior the appeals court finds was not ineffective assistance of counsel.

I think a Casey Anthony reference would fit in here nicely…..but I’m not gonna provide it…………

I agree, the death penalty should be given out…. give that rat the chair!

Actually, Stephan’s in no danger; he can just erase everyone in sight and restart reality, like DC Comics does now and then.

As for panel 2, maybe there’s a mirror in the back of the courtroom, and that’s what we’re looking at. (Feel free to use that excuse, SP.)

Rat has drawn the strip before. In fact, he may have drawn this one! So Stephan is disposable… (I wonder if he ever appeared on Star Trek as an unnamed crewman!)

Stephan wears a tie… this changes everything.

Rat’s a pro—he gets a pro-Rat-ed fee for every defendant of his that is found guilty.+++++Stephan always said that Rat would be the death of him yet.

If Stephan is executed, he can just have himself “undie”. It’s worked for other characters.

Admire how Pastis is pushing the envelope – - as did my Great uncle as a political cartoonist in the 50’s during the McCarthy area. GROPPER
