Got any lotto stories? I once ask a realtor if she ever sold a house to a lotto winner, but she said her brother had. Korean guy was part of a work lotto pool where he had to turn in $5 personnally every friday and could not owe it. One friday he was sick but the lead lotto chief at work would not let his wife bring it in. Korean guy got mad cuz he was legit sick so he went to the local store and bought his own personal ticket. And won $7 or $9 million all by himself (didn’t have to share at all.) He bought the house from the realtor brother – for cash. ;-)
A rather silly punchline, since a millionaire can have anything from $1 million to just under $1 billion. And I bet most of the contestants aren’t dead broke when they come.
Don’t forget though that not everyone can get approved for a mortgage right now. Especially in situations where something like a messy divorce has ruined credit scores. I’m currently buying a 3 br 2 bath home with a monthly payment lower than $500 AFTER taxes/insurance but if I was forced to rent in the same area it would cost me around $600 base for a cheap 2 br apartment.Plus let’s stop to realize that Boots may not want to walk away from a good job to try and find work elsewhere. Work isn’t something everyone has nowadays.
Oh yeah, the housing bubble (the big one that burst and threw us into such a mess) goes way back to Carter and Clinton days when the Dems pushed for banks to loan money to people they knew couldn’t pay it back. Then (gasp!) when they didn’t pay it back the banks went broke and Bush (in a bad move) threw gobs of money at the problem, making it worse. When Replublicans had power they should have done all they could to undo the mistakes of the Dems but they didn’t and now we’re stuck in this mess with a left wing president who’s only made it worse.

Wait until he goes online to SLATE Magazine and sees the proposed $1 trillion coin there.

I am glad that Congress got the debt bill though, Now they can get back to their primary jobs: getting re-elected.
