I’ve been reading this strip for a couple of days now. I don’t mean to be negative. I just can’t help critiquing something is all.Freshly Squeezed is not terrible, it’s not great, it suffers from what too many comic strips suffer from these days, mediocrity. The characters are typical and bland. The drawing is marketable but far from idiosyncratic. I also think the title does nothing for the strip. Twenty years from now are any of us going to be saying how much we loved this awesome strip called Freshly Squeezed? Ed Stein certainly seems like a nice guy but I’m very surprised to see this strip syndicated.

@Mitzi Flowers: You should read it from the beginning. It may be mediocre to you,but it’s very relevant to current events today. It’s a fairly new strip,so it’s got a long row to hoe towards greatness. After all,who knew that For Better or for Worse would come to be what we know it to be after 29 years?

On TV this Sit-Com might last the second season.

Most relevant. Why buy “new” school clothes, period?!?!?!?!?

The relevancy lies in the grandparents having to move in with them due to the economic downturn. They lost their house. And school starts soon or has already started – hence the dreaded shopping for school clothes. I hated school clothes shopping with the kids. Don’t miss it at all….

    That really does look ugly.

I’m sorry, but comparing this to Peanuts is ridiculous. Second of all, the relevancy factor of a strip means little to me. The characters are everything. You’re right though, nothing much happens in comic strips. I never suggested that Freshly Squeezed needs more action. I suggested that it needs more heart.
