    Li’l Abner is one of my favorite comic strips. Al Capp(who drew it)was Ham Fisher’s assistant, when they were drawing Joe Palooka comic strip. Palooka was a boxer. I wish there were reprints, here, of Joe Palooka. You can see the similarity of drawings in both Li’l Abner and Joe Palooka. Hummingbird68

    Yes, and Ham Fisher was so jealous of Capp’s success with Li’l Abner he created a set of pornographic Lil’l Abner strips in one of his many attempts to destroy Capp who had eclipsed him in popularity.
