I knew Pansy, but I didn’t know Lucifer — the Bringer of Light!Back in the 50’s en I was a kid, we had Li’l Abner and Blondie & Dagwood over here in the UK, and I’ve always had a soft spot for ‘em. I’ve always been intrigued by the similarities between the Dogpatch accent & my own native ‘Black Country’ accent, but I think theirs comes from Devon/Cornwall rather than the Midlands.
In later years, Pappy (Lucifer) as well as his grandson, Honest Abe, suffered from a condition that made them grow horns and act like devilish billy goats. Well, I don’t know if THEY suffered but people around them did!
