    The ‘precession of the equinoxes’ is a continuous, 24,000 year cycle that has no beginning or end. There is nothing astronomically unusual about 12/21/2012, other than the usual winter solstice. The date is significant because it’s the day the Olmec-Mayan ‘Long-Count’ calendar ends after 5,125 years.
