Reminds me of the old rhyme…“I eat my peas with honey, I’ve done it all my life. They do taste kinda funny But it keeps ’em on my knife!”

I can’t think of anything better I’d want to do with peas. I certainly wouldn’t want to eat them.

When I was a kid during the Korean War, I used to eat my rice by pretending they were Red Chinese troops. Since then I’ve mellowed: I’ve been to China twice – 3 times if you count changing planes in Hong Kong.

Puns are the Huns of wit… they come in hordes, and won’t take “no” for an answer.

We had a typical 50s formica table in the kitchen when I was growing up. It had hollow legs and my brother learned how to put peas in them so he didn’t have to eat any. Parents clueless … until … they moved and about a million dried peas cascaded around the kitchen. My brother and I looked at each other and just collapsed with laughter. No neither of us eats peas!

If you didn’t want him to play with his food, why’d you give him a little catapult???

So far the best use of peas on the kitchen table… because eating them is unthinkable.

I love peas, except the canned variety. Yesterday, I sat in the sun eating peas out of the shell from our garden.

I didn’t like peas when I was a kid, but as I got older, I found out, that almost anything tastes good, if you just put enough butter on it!puddleglum: you are back in rare form!

Back in the day of “formal” prep school dining with cloth napkins (in the 1950s), I learned that if you put a napkin loosely in your lap, below the level of the table top, and then “snapped” it smartly you could launch a pat of butter a fair piece. Of course if the butter was too soft you usually just hit yourself.

I loved peas when I was a small child; then, at about age 6-7, I couldn’t stand them. I didn’t eat peas for about 6 or 7 years. Finally, when I was abot 12 or 13, my mother successfully persuaded me to try Le Sueur peas. They have been one of my favorite foods for the last 55 years. (No, this is NOT an advertisement)

Give peas a chance when with the one you love—we need more spooning!

I would turn this on it’s head. Calvin can keep launching his peas this way, so long as the target is his mouth. Every miss, and two more peas go onto his plate. He’d probably stop right away at that point.

I did. Loved ’em then and loved ’em now. :P pbbtLaunching peas offensives? :) Hah! Wait until you try launching a whole Borden ice cream bar (on a suitably flexible plastic stick) from the space between two school cafeteria tables. Did that just once, have no idea how I stayed out of trouble that day.
