Ah – so this is why we can cope with the rain in Britain. Free-at-the-point-of-delivery healthcare so we don’t worry about a shower.

Anyway, as Billy Connolly said, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. For once Mom was wrong – she should have sent Calvin out in boots and raincoat. Children aren’t soluble.

Moms have a way of keeping you alive long enough to bury them.

Mom’s parental insight was really an eye-opener for Hobbes in the last frame. In the first frame, his eyes were just dots. Here are a couple of Peanuts strips on today’s theme:Peanuts (1951)Peanuts (1965)

Woody Allen said that he didn’t fear dying, he just didn’t want to be there when it happened.

Also, if Calvin dies, it will end the comic strip which will mean the strip would only be available as repeats .., Come to think of it, that’s what’s happening now which proves one thing, Calvin never dies, he lives forever in our hearts.

@biomcanx and bizaker,It is confusion. Some websites have Cernan and others have Ceman. The problem is the rn (RN). If my memory serves me right, (or is it rightly, Hobbes?) the correct name is Eugene CERNAN, not CEMAN!

If it was a warm rain, my mom would say, “Go put on your swim trunks!”. I had a lot of fun playing in the rain… until I got glasses and being out in the rain was being legally blind…

Yes—if the rain is warm enough, you don’t need clothes (at that age anyway)—and you don’t have to worry about pneumonia.

@Pygar, Agreed, a warm rain is nice to play in unless you have glasses. In CA the rain is mostly always cold so it’s never fun to play in glasses or not.

Now if Calvin could only convince his mom that the same thing may happen when he showers indoors, too.

WATTERSON HAS MY RESPECT, DID NOT SELL OUT TO THE MONEY, ALTHOUGH I THINK HE MADE A BUNDLE, BUT ANYWAY TO THE ONE WHO POSTED HE’S A MISER, GET A NEW PERSON TO START "CASE & “TEDDY BEAR OR SOMETHING” THERE ARE A LOT OF YOUNG KIDS OUT THERE TODAY THAT ARE CREATING THOSE CHILD MOMENTS THAT WOULD UPDATE CALVIN. CALVIN IS GREAT, HOBBS GREATER. BUT I HAVE WATCHED SIMILAR AGE CHILDERN TODAY THAT STILL COME UP WITH THE “CHILDERN SAY THE DARNEST THINGS” SO SOMEONE OUT THERE WHO IS WATCHING CHILDERN, COME UP WITH A NEW CALVIN. BY THE WAY, THIS IS A CARTOON, NOT PYS 101.

As someone who used to be a little boy, playing in the rain was GREAT. Even better was playing in the mud while it was raining. I am raising two girls though who would beg to differ.
