Actually, in ancient Rome, “thumbs down” meant “put down the sword” i.e., “don’t kill him/her/it”. “Thumbs up” meand “go ahead, kill him/her/it”.
What about thumbing a ride on a chariot?
Runar is right… that’s funny that they updated the comic to current times (as most people don’t know that and wouldn’t understand). ;-)
And if Caeser raised his fist, with only the center digit pointing upward, did that mean he wanted a rematch?
I thought it was thumb stabbing toward you: kill the guy. Thumb hidden in hand: spare his life.
