My Mom is the oldest in her family, and even at almost 80 she’s still the best looking one. She has taken better care of herself, so when they are in a group and one of my aunts teasingly introduces her as “the oldest sister” I don’t think they realize people are thinking that the oldest looks the best! (and that’s not just a partial daughter speaking!)
Ah…you never get any older on the inside. It’s always just “you”, looking into the mirror first thing in the morning and wondering what the hell happened to you.
I’m the baby of four and I never get any respect. I just wish that when we get together, they’d recognize that my viewpoint has value. But no. Somewhere along the way, I always have to take a breath and think, “they’ll never see your viewpoint, give it up”. It’s like trying to teach a pig to sing.
Take pretty much any measure of success that society lays out and I’m in the lead. I usually don’t think in those terms, but it’s true. Married longer (and quite happily). Bigger house. Bigger income. I didn’t really try to set out to compete to outdo them all, it’s just worked out that way.
There are only two of us and I m 2 years older. My sister lets me know this. Our mom would always curl her hair. I never kept that tradition. Now I keep my hair short. Opal stay with your tradition less work.

Some people always care what they look like, and then there’s others who never care.

No matter what age, you should always try to look your best. It just makes you feel better.

Probably for the first 20 years or so of life, she wouldn’t let the other one forget she was older.
