I lived in Florida until I was thirteen, when we moved to Texas. I used to play sports in February in eighty degree weather and have seventh degree Christmases. Now, I’ve had a white Christmas and it snowed during soccer practice last week. And after spending last August in the band parking lit for marching practice, I love the cold (especially the wet and windy variety).

One of the reasons I like fall best was because of school starting again. I loved college in the fall. Also the leaves changing colors, no more God-awful summer heat, new seasons of TV programs, and bicycling in the crisp autumn air. Also, coincidence that the three women I’ve ever loved in life all had birthdays in the fall (it was a shame that the second one hated the fall – that among other things we did not have in common made it difficult for me to be married to her).
