Amazing! That was the first thought that went through my mind after seeing yesterday’s strip. So maybe going to a non politically correct store is the answer to plastic bag issues.
Poor Deering and his dystopic future. I say future because I don’t know of any mainstream grocery store that doesn’t still offer plastic, and I sincerely doubt he’s shopping at any of the frou-frou places.
Some Canadian municipalities, including Toronto, and the town closest to me, have passed (illegal) bylaws requiring stores to charge 5¢ per plastic bag. Of course, Wal~Mart ignores the law — even Toronto’s not big enough to go after them! But I never threw away plastic bags, so I have several decades worth stored away to reuse, so I never have to buy them.
