Red and Rover by Brian Basset for August 27, 2011
Transcript:
I'm going to look like a total dweeb at school wearing these clothes and this dorky haircut. Isn't it written somewhere that the dweeb shall inherit the earth? No, the meek shall. Well, if a meek had as dorky a haircut, he'd practically be a dweeb! Please don't go into motivational speaking.

Blessed are the motivational speechmakers, for they won’t have dorky haircuts!

’Course, Rover can be cheery. As he pointed out the other day, he just goes naked!

I agree, Senex. Kids were dressed much better back in Red’s day, even in their play clothes.

An interesting tidbit about translations, ghostkeeper. Can you cite your sources? (And in any case, in the Bible, meekness — that is, humility, the antithesis of arrogant pride — is an essential basis of wisdom.).Besides, in the usual Biblical turn of phrase, the masses can’t be cowed…they’re sheep. (Sorry. Too many puns flying around in the other strips today!)

School always gets between a boy and his dog by bringing out the boy’s dweebishness and dorkiness.

That’s awsome how his word balloon has a reflection in the mirror! Is that a first in comics?
