Gil has been looking increasingly grim in recent weeks. In that first panel, he looks as if it’s all he can do to keep from swinging at Maris.

At least “Wildcat’s” idea didn’t involve him becoming a coach and it’s someone else!

Apparently Gil’s son changed his name to Deke Davey.

As long as Gil’s been in Milford, he should have heard of Davey. Former players and parents would at least have passed on positives about him if he were really that good. Also, doesn’t a coach have to have a position with the school system to be eligible to coach?

At least his name isn’t Topper. If Maris is such a big wheel, how come Gilmeister isn’t kissing his ring?

Being good with the kids on the youth league level does not always translate to success in high school. I really thought Gil had someone in mind to bring on as DC.

Roger Maris never played high school baseball in N. Dakota. His school was too small to field a team. He played American Legion ball, which is where he got noticed. Is Gil wearing Armani now?

Maybe Roger and Wildcat were both All-State in debate.
