Please excuse this short rant, but the word less refers to something that is measured in amounts. When referring to something that is numbered [like virgins], the correct word is fewer.
By all means, start tossing in the lawyers. But don’t expect that act to actually appease the gods – the reason that the gods ask for virgins is that it’s intended to be a sacrifice, not a means of waste management.
