Red and Rover by Brian Basset for August 29, 2011

Do I really have to get ready for bed now?! It still so early! School begins next week. You need to adjust your sleep schedule accordingly. Well, I'm waking up super early so I can make a ton of ruckus outside mom and dad's bedroom door! Good thing you've been sent to bed when you have, then!

And when you make that ton of ruckus, Red, the folks will just send you to your room anyway…

I don’t know, Red. With all that anger festering inside you, you may not get to sleep right away. And if you don’t get to sleep right away, you may not wake up as early as you want to.

True, Grog. If my oldest has any strong emotion going through her mind at bedtime, it takes soo long for her to relax and sleep.

School around here (south Louisiana) began in the first week of August. If I was still a kid I’d sue.

Either Red delivers an evening newspaper, or he’s already on an early schedule. When I delivered a paper, I would wake up at 3:30 am so I could complete the route and go back to bed before school. For years afterwards I would still wake up at 3:30, then have to fall asleep again.

@ ArthurAllen – 3:30?? Goodness, some days I have trouble with 8:30. :p
