hamhock: you don't have a cell phone?? Ralston: I prefer to speak face to face. hamhock: What about contacts? Calendars? You only use your computer? Ralston: I don't have a computer. ralston: Okay, now you're just being dramatic...
Sometimes it is nice to be able to step away from electronic gadgets… besides, just because Ralston doesn’t have a computer, it doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t use one.
SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED will use no electronics except the TV remote. I tell her HP is selling their IPad for $99 and I swear I can see the entire Atlantic in her eyes.
I’m not a total technophobe, but I’m usually among the last people to get whatever the latest gadget is. I use my cell phone to make telephone calls, and I only got a computer at home so I could read my favorite comics strips on the weekends…
I have no aversion to technology. I can’t imagine life without the internet and I love my smart phone. I don’t have an ereader yet, but I will as most fiction I only read once plus it will end the dusting of those volumes still sitting on my bookshelves. In my most recent move I gave most of my books – hundreds of pounds- to the library book sale, and the rest will follow once they are replaced in electronic format. I’m not an early adopter, but that is mainly due to the fact that prices drop dramatically if a person simply waits a bit plus some of the bugs are resolved.
@TimeTraveler — We don’t have a television. Or a microwave. And I’m still not on Facebook. AND I watch Star Trek. Not bad for a teenager, eh, old people?;)
Five years ago when I started reading this strip, Ralston ask him to look up something on the internet. Ham Hock said: “What’s the internet?” Now it’s five years later and he’s upset that his best pal doesn’t use all this technology. Not everyone does.

I don’t have cable, don’t have home internet, and don’t have an I-pod. And don’t even get me started on Facebook. . .

Let’s go for the hat trick and say he doesn’t have a television also.

I hope Ralston’s not relying on the post office for his communication needs.
