OK, Cat Lovers, explain to me again why, whenever your cat snubs the food you give it, you don’t just let it starve until such time as it decides to go ahead and eat what you give it? Speaking as a Dog Lover, who never had a problem with a “picky eater” (most dogs aren’t), I’m afraid I’ve never really been clear on the concept.
My last cat liked her cat-food well enough. But she always wanted whatever I was eating. If I gave her a taste, she’d sniff it, then look at me as if to say, “you EAT that?” Then she’d turn her back on me and go back to her own dish.
My cat isn’t picky about his food since it’s always the dry version, and he makes us all laugh when he pokes the water in his water dish with his paw and licks it off before settling down to drink.
Mine like green olives all kinds of plants, and roses.. I have a picky dog turn nose up at his food but will eat the cat’s. So now its on top of washer…for them… Some how we adopt animals that have food problems.. Still love them..
Doc if you want some fun.. put a few ice cubes in the water bowl.. my older cat bats at them and then flips the out and chases them…the dog tries to chew them. just be careful of the wet floor…don’t slip
Cats only eat when they’re hungry. If they’re not hungry, they won’t eat. It’s not about forcing them to eat, it’s just about putting food in the bowl periodically and them eating when they feel like it
I have both dogs and cats, both get dry food and never like to change the brand. The dogs do have one irritating eating habit, snacking out of the kitty litter box.
Ah…you just don’t get the cat/person relationship. This is like a courtship dance. The human is proving how much she loves kitty …think of it as flirting. Hey, I’m a mountain dog and even I get itDogyn Hood
We have two cats who’ll eat anything that is not nailed down, One who’ll eat that, X 2, and two who are picky eaters. The smallest, a feral, won’t eat until after everyone else has eaten, then she’ll eat any food crumbs are left on their plates, while leaving her own plate untouched.
An hour later, if we leave her dish out, she’ll finally eat that too, but only after no one else wants it. I think there’s a cat pecking order going on here, but only in her mind. When she was wild, she was small, and if she tried to eat before the other ferals she would be ppicked on. So she’s humble, and eats last, after all the others have had their fill. This kitty had a very hard life. We found her eating the bread under our bird feeder, on a cold Winter day..she should have weighed 7 pounds but she weighed only about 3.

Snubs are temporary; they’ll eat the dry food when they can make it look like it was THEIR idea.

Guys and/or girls…its a joke. Ease off of the deeper meaning of cats vs dog food habits. Laugh a little, you’ll feel better.
