Actually, if you look at the history of the comic strip, comics started as political or editorial cartoons. Some weren’t even jokes, but illustrations depicting the artist’s views.Ergo, if there wasn’t political humor, there probably may never have been comic strips. So enjoy the little political barbs as long as it doesn’t down right trash a political viewpoint. Myself, I figure a jib at a political figure is not how you feel about the party, just that particular person. Therefore it can still be funny rather you are republican, democrat, independent, on the fence, under the shed, or martian.
This reminds me of a Far Side comic where the dear is sitting in an easy chair with a smoking jacket on and there are human heads mounted on the wall behind him. Looking closely you can see the shot guns attached to his antlers. Found that hilarious then, find this equally hilarious today.

Comedy is cheap when it’s sex or pain or fart jokes. When you really want cheap, throw in politics.Wow! I didn’t know Eno had gained weight.

The problem with Cheney is he’s vulnerable on so many different levels, not just the overtly political ones. Makes him a great catch-all.
