1. I grew up in the North. In history classes there, slave trade and Atlantic Triangular trade were used interchangeably. Read about it – you’ll find that there are many wealthy families up North who weren’t directly involved in slavery but whose trade in molasses and rum helped fuel it.2. Just because someone is a Civil War re-enacter doesn’t mean they are not up-to-date on history. In fact, many of the re-enacters I have met know more about history than some history teachers.
