I don’t see how to read this strip without picturing a corpse being beaten to pieces to retrieve stomach contents. Excuse me, but that grusome image wipes out the humor for me. Not typical for D.B. of whom I’m usually a great fan.
It’s “dark” or “black” humor — deliberately cruel and disgusting. Don’t you remember all those “cruelty” jokes that went around when we were young kids? (I assume everyone went through a period like that.)
