The only time I ever voted in a student body election was for a kid who said that if he was elected he was going to eliminate the student body government!

My old highschool conducted a write-in campagn for Milmore Grudy. He nearly won, but the administration disqualified him.

Seems there was no one named Milmore Grudy.

They were doing silly stuff like that back then? “Graduations” in elementary school? I agree. Let kids be kids.

This storyline was the basis for the 1972 TV special “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown”.

We never had class presidents. We had a student council, though. I don’t know who was president of that. I do remember being in 8th grade and being instrumental in getting the “swimming caps for girls” rule removed. We were told girls had to wear caps because “their hair clogs the pipes”. I asked the superintendant if male hair didn’t—many of the guys had hair down to their shoulders, while for girls the super-short shingle cut was in style.

That’s like when Linus was forced, by Lucy, to sing at the Christmas paegent. He began announcing that these plays ruined kids holidays and all. Then Lucy hollered for him to sing. Yes, let kids be kids. Not all of them like being in front of an audience.

Don’t be surprised if he starts talking about the Great Pumpkin in his campaign speech.
