Bob AMATEUR says: maybe he got a call on his cell phone (known then as his wrist 2-way radio). Ye gods! Pat Patton’s back but where are Jeffry Trohs and Moon Maid not to mention B.O. Plenty and Gravel Gertie and Flyface Jr (who was the final straw for the Atlanta Constitution?
Jim has once again done a superb job in honoring a legend (and classmate) of classic daily comics. For those who may have not read Tracy for a while (and in the opinion of some, for good reason) I invite you to rediscover the legendary Tracy as presented by the new team of Mike Curtis and Joe Staton.
Currently they are revisiting the origin of Tracy becoming a detective with an eye for layout and style not unlike Jim Scancarelli, coupled with upbeat pacing and tight writing.
During the last years of the Locher era many papers dropped Dick Tracy for obvious reasons.. Now that the new team has improved the art and story telling we all should write letters to request that Dick Tracy return.
I’m guessing that Mineola hasn’t looked at the Dick Tracy comic strip for the past 8 months or so. As for Gasoline Alley, I’ve always liked the strip, though it’s kind of sad to see how all the characters are so very old now. Guess I prefer the fantasy that comic strip characters are immortal and don’t age the way we do in real life.

Another ten years and Dick will be able to retire and get a small pension, assuming the dollar is still worth anything.

The new Dick Tracy team has revitalized the strip making it one of the best (if not THE best) adventure daily out there.
