The thing about scotch is that its one of the only liquors that isn’t the slightest bit sweet. Even the other distilled-and-wood-aged boozes have an element of sweetness in their taste, but scotch is about smoke. Especially the Islays and the only Skye whiskey (Talisker). And yes, you either like it or you don’t, generally. If you like it a little, you may learn to like it more; but if you just hate it? Try Drambuie!

Funniest spit take in history is Alan Arkin in Big Trouble w/ Peter Falk and Beverly D’Angelo. Falk convinces Arkin to try the sardine liqueur from Norway. You don’t have to be Satch to think that less than optimal.

I was once ordering Scotch and a nearby Scotsman loudly said that I had order Glenfiddich. I did, and got the nod of approval. It’s worth a try!
