The federal government’s only supposed to have the military, says Perry. Everything else is supposed to be up to the states. In that case, let his state take care of his state.
Um, nope. Rick Perry and the GOP-dominated Texan legislature deliberately cut funds for firefighting below recommended levels. Now that they are getting huge fires, they want federal help. So much for pulling your own weight – they want the rest of the country to support Texan short-sightedness.It’s not the first time, either. Perry is claiming that Texas has a balanced budget — which he balanced on federal funds. He is indeed a posturing hypocrite.
Hey – that’s our governor. Of course, he’s a moron. Last time y’all helped us out by taking our other idiot from the village; I wouldn’t recommend doing it again. We have an entire village of idiots down here, and we’ll just replace him with another one.
Oil money and FEDERAL MONEY and JOBS kept the Texas economy afloat, not “Perry policies” (of an essentially powerless governor under Texas Constitution), it’s time for Americans to wake up and smell the smoke, and floods, and hurricanes of increased intensity- and that’s not Perry’s biblical bull.
Kimberly- it IS the role of the Guard to help, as in providing transportation etc during emergencies, but no, they should NOT be on the fire line except for mop up or other “less hazardous” roles!
Well, I can’t post thoughtful, informative posts all the time — sometimes I just want to reinforce the cartoon and the cartoonist. But I doubt it is every third or fourth post. And obviously you missed my post IMMEDIATELY after the “Zing!” post…
Didn’t Perry pray to his Sky God to help with the economy? Do you think he looks around at his burning state and thinks maybe he got his answer from his Sky God??

The National Guard is State controlled, unless specifically federalized.

Well, I’m happy for you. Knowledge may certainly have a liberal bias, but that doesn’t mean an occasional rightie can’t see the light.
