ladyfingers, since Betty is the one who CARES how Bub is dressed, it’s considerate of Bub to consult her. He’d be happy wearing the plaid pants with the striped shirt, a polka-dot bow tie and sneakers, but he knows that BETTY would not want to be seen with him that way.
Actually, Betty’s probably the one who bought all Bub’s clothes in the first place, so if any combination is too “out-there” she’d be partly to blame anyway…
Why would he want to copy Arlo and Janis? Let Jimmy Johnson draw Arlo and Janis, and let Gary Delainey and/or Gerry Rasmussen draw Betty and Bub.
Besides, if Betty weren’t fully dressed at the end of the strip, it would undercut the lead-in gag: Betty is putting the finishing touches on her make-up while Bub is just stepping out of the shower.
Betty’s eyes are so beatiful without her glasses!! I think it’s because of her mascara. I wonder if she will wear lipstick with that mascara. I’ll love it!
This is the first time I’ve ever seen Betty without putting her glasses on in this strip. Well done Delainey you really did it! Would you like some pink lipstick to go with your mascara Betty?
She’s not dressing him. Note that Betty is not buttoning his shirt or zipping up his pants. She is telling her loving hubby what to wear that is appropriate for the evening’s event.
It has nothing to do with one’s ability to dress oneself. It has everything to do with a woman’s moving in and taking over every inch of space to the point where a man can no longer find anything, including his clothes. Notice, she is not dressing him, merely telling him where he can find his clothes.
