A couch-shaped scratching post. I see a vast market segment for that.

Anyone that would remove a cat’s claws should be taken out and shot. I recently bought a new couch, and I have no problems with my two cats “sharpening their claws” on it…cats are as intelligent as dogs, and they do understand the word “no”! If “no” doesn’t work then get out a squirt bottle…usually one squirt is all it takes to express your displeasure. BTW, they are actually marking their territory.

Cats scratch on anything but what they’re supposed to. That’s the way it was with our cats.

my siblings all have cats, as do various nephews and nieces. none are outdoor cats and all, as far as i know, have been declawed with no apparent problems. it really isn’t a big deal (except maybe for those who want to anthropomorphise). would you also be against spaying and neutering of pets?

I think de-clawing is cruel; claws are attached to bone in the cats paw! Some vets. will call the SPCA on a person who wishes the cat to be de-clawed. They give so much to their “humans”, why torture them for it.
