On the finale of “Rescue Me”, they spilled Lou’s ashes with an open window and inhaled him. Was this ironic screenwriting to point out what happened on 9/11 for all those so hung-up on recovering “remains”?? Anderson furthers the thought.
Runnels posted absolute BUNK.It is easily proven that the majority of our Founders, by their own words and acts, were either Christian or PRO-Christian, and our new and unique form of Government was based on the Bible principles of Liberty and Freedom and respect for God and Law. To avoid the abuses of Britain and Europe, the government was not allowed to be UNITED with any “State Church”…but was intended to favor and promote every voluntary church/group…..the First Amendment guaranteed our freedom to worship…in Public! Freedom from Government Interference. the early Congresses funded Bible printing and Christian education….funding the teaching of native American Indians….-don’t you ever study American history…..written before the modern Atheist’s “revisions”? -most U.S. Presidents have been quoted as stating that America IS A CHRISTIAN NATION….(or in 2011, “used to be”)
^The folks fleeing religious persecution in Europe came here, with guns, so they could persecute those who didn’t convert to their religion, period. Look what happened to the Quakers who said “To each his own”. All those lovely folks from the other churches tried to kill them, AND the Native Tribes, that wouldn’t “convert”.
They also show that in the days of the founding fathers, the intellectuals and philosophers of the time were making our laws. Today, it’s anyone with a talent for fundraising and a good face for TV. And one must be, or pretend to be, Christian. Intellect is often a disadvantage.
Hey Zeus! Out of the Weeds, people. That “A Good Christian Nation” line was meant to be a facetious and ironic commentary (historically, and comically – it’s a comic, you know) on ‘Our’ (as stereo-typical US citizens) collective self-importance, blind to the realities of our own shortcomings let these vital issues either fall through the cracks or be politicized out of relevance. Ground Zero is for Heroes. But Jesus still weeps.
@Stephen Runnels – your reply to disgustedtaxpayer: “I have many, many of these quotes from the majority of our founding fathers who regarded Christianity as destructive. What ever gave you the idea otherwise?”
Stephen Runnels, you seem very well educated, and rather quite a bt more intelligent than me and many of the other posters here. So, I suspect you actually know, disgustedtaxpayer doesn’t want to know of anything else, or of facts.
this is not nor has it ever been a christian nation. being a ‘christian’ nation is expressly restricted by the 1st amendment. and the politicians that wrap themselves in the flag and the church are scoundrels pandering to the basest of those that would like it to be.
and to anyone who wants to know just how stupid our policies are, read osama bin ladens fatwah.
we are doing EXACTLY what he said we would do in response to his attack and how it would make us lose.
it isn’t often an enemy openly tells you their strategy, and even less often when a seemlingly intelligent country would do EXACTLY what their enemy wants.

It is disappointing how cheap sentiment has triumphed over real aid and mutual sacrifice.
