I always sing “I’d rather be a hammer than a snail”
wwh85cp about 13 years ago
Well, SOME people use a hammer as a nutcracker…

That said, the quote marks in Caulfield’s word balloon appear to be meaningful, but I miss the hidden meaning. Frazz, I ain’t.

If he only could, he surely would….
Varnes about 13 years ago
If he would have said it, he’d have been screwed….

I got stuck on panel 1 thinking there was some numerical significance with Caufield saying ‘That works out….’ Dang if I could figure anything though. Any math wiz’ out there?

I’d rather be the socket wrench. Much more versatile.

If he’d been a nut and said that, he’d have had to bolt.

“I’d rather be a forest than a street. Yes I would. If I only could, I surely would.”
Varnes about 13 years ago
fritzoid, I tried to do something with bolt, but couldn’t come up with anything…Good one. Congratulations!

Eric and JiminNYC, I’d rather be a Jack Hammer than a street, that’s what I’d tweet! See, we could plant trees where the street was!

One possibility for Caulfield’s comment in the first panel: If you look at the question numbers, it adds up to 42 questions. 42 (from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) is the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything!
