I spent the last 3 months copying my VHS tapes to DVD. Unfortunately, a lot of movies on VHS have a copy block, so I must still keep my VHS player for them
I have VHS and will not get rid of my machine. And have you looked recently? It’s Blu-Ray now. Not just DVD. Tech keeps changing. Delivery systems keep changing. I’m still figuring out my smart phone!
Year long tally: 28 Nonsensical : 241 Realistic] Thank you Robb for today’s realistic and funny comic!! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++This is very funny on many different levels!!!! I am not a Luddite by any stretch of the imagination, but in my household we have three functioning VCRs for recording shows and watching shows we have recorded. Additionally, we have a DVD player for watching movies and such. Also, our televisions are all still cathode-ray tube style (no HD). Again, it is not that I am a Luddite…. I would love to have the latest technology and all the gizmos and bells and whistles….but what I am is a damn stingy, penny-pincher. I really feel bad tossing out or getting rid of something that is still functional and useful. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I know the day will come when I will either a) need a new television (the big one breaks) or b) the VCRs break. When that day comes, Then, I will willingly move en masse to an HD television and whatever the current recording device is at that time (the DVR is likely going to be way “out” by that time).
Hey, I used to think my grandparents were cool for having a gigantic TV that sits on the floor… it was years until I found out that they didn’t have an expensive TV, but just a really old one that was the only size. :-s

It’s hard to even find blank VHS tapes now. How soon will they disappear?

Still use a VCR for recording off tv. And still own a lot of VHS tapes, both recorded and purchased movies.
