There was a rather good Star Trek fan novel titled Ishmael. It would have made a grand movie, too. But it would need all the actors to be alive and young again. That could be awkward unless the neutrino experiment at CERN turns out to have been correct.
I remember being under the covers with a flashlight reading a book when I was supposed to be sleeping as a kid. Now I just turn the light on and read whenever I wish. Part of not being able to sleep at times now that I am in my mid sixties. Yawn.
Melville wasn’t easy reading, at least not for me, but I love the sentiment of this script. I spent many a night with a book until 2am—just one more chapter! I can quit any time I want to!

I love to read, but Moby Dick was terrible.
