Actually you can just eat beans to get protein, and not to stereotype their diet but they are Hispanic so…

True. But peanut butter is a good source of protein, and during this time of poverty, it’s a real blessing. If the price doesn’t go up too much.

Actually, originally (1937) it was made from pork shoulders, an unpopular cut of meat at the time, much like beef skirt steak was before fajitas became popular. Now, it’s chopped pork shoulder meat, with ham meat added, salt, water, modified potato starch as a binder, and sodium nitrite as a preservative.
Quality meats, potted in a way to need no refrigeration, that got around the seasonal nature of the meat industry.
