We older folks ‘yell’ into the phone ‘cause we can’t hear… that always helps me (LOL)

How is someone talking on a phone any more annoying than their talking with another diner. Let’s just enforce total silence in public places, eh?

@hariseldon59, which is why even a passenger shouldn’t be talking on a cell phone in a moving car. Thanks for this information. (p.s. I miss Isaac too.)

I don’t like very loud talkers in public places, whether they are on a phone or not.

well at least gocomics doesn’t practically require you to check it every 15 seconds or so to keep up with things….and I always just turn the sound off rather than turn the phone completely off…

Interesting study results there. What this points out to me is that we were created is such a way that it is natural for us to pay attention to conversation directed at us. In other words, it is natural when we hear pauses in a conversation to want to fill the void left by the cell phone conversation, thus pulling our attention from what we are doing. This apparently happens despite our desire to ignore that “halfalogue”. Interesting.

Um, maybe the bird got kicked out for health reasons, even though they do let a pig and goat eat there. My friends like to eat at a particular pizza restaurant because it has free parking, even though the pizza isn’t very good. They have a satellite baking area by the lot that they keep open at hot times of the year, and one time I saw a pigeon fly out. Figures.

Cell phones have institutionalized gross rudeness. Worst is when they are loudly discussing something terribly private, and are basically raping your ear-hole by forcing you to be privy to it. I want very badly to give you the privacy your conversation deserves, but what about MY right to the privacy of NOT hearing it? Just because you’re on a cell phone does NOT grant you the right to force your conversation on me! Keep your conversations to YOURSELF! And worst of all are those morons who look straight at you, are waling straight at you, and are spouting gibberish straight at you, and then you finally see that f%#&@^g Blue-Tooth gizmo sticking out of their ear! And when you make eye contact with them, they respond like YOU’RE the one doing something wrong!! I HATE THAT!!!oh, gosh, I feel better now…

And it’s not just the talking… There’s also the stupid ringtone turned up so loud that everyone in the restaurant or theater can hear it.

And what’s really, REALLY worst is when you’re talking to someone, they get a call, and they hold their hand up to your face while they take the call! I’m standing right here in front of you, and you’re PUTTING ME ON HOLD??? DIE!!!

I don’t use my cell phone very often, but when I have to in a public place I step outside or off to one side, partly because I don’t want anyone to eavesdrop, but mostly because I don’t want to be seen as one of those idiots I hate.
