Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for October 11, 2011
Transcript:
Mom: Did you get lost again at school? Petey: Yes. I was looking for my portable classroom and I couldn't find it. I looked all over the schoolyard. I did find a camp of retirees who'd parked their RVs on the tetherball court. Mom: This is silly! I'm calling the principal! Petey: I also found a hobo jungle, a colony of circus folk and a few busloads of shoppers who thought they were at the off-price mall.

She won’t find him. He’s the one in the yellow shirt in panel two, and hasn’t been seen in the school itself since he went out to retrieve a child from the outhouse classrooms last year. He thinks he’s in the line for off-price shirts.

Petey has a vivid imagination. Thank goodness he shares it with Madeline and us! —His schoolyard is a kind of strange Black Hole for odd folk!

I bet that Petey loved every minute of this trek into the land of The Twlight Zone.

You really managed to get yourself lost this time, Petey. But how do you manage to wander off the school grounds?

Ah, those good old school days. Apples on the desk, passing notes, and getting lost in the portable classroom maze.

When I go to school today, I want to find a circus colony instead of a classroom!

Big G: “I wonder if Petey also found a Gyspy Camp as well?”
Let’s hope that if Petey did find a Gypsy Camp, that the Gypsies did not confuse him with Lawrence Talbot!!

If you don’t get an education, you end up in a colony of circus folk, or the hobo jungle.

Naw, Ernesto’s the one battling lycanthropy. Petey had a scare a while back, but nothing came of it.

Thanks. Long story, but it’s related to the name of my current blog.

Uh…you want Wiley Miller’s “Non Sequitur” or (if you prefer a more hard-nosed and cynical brand of political humor) Garry Trudeau’s “Doonesbury”. This, sir, is a family comic.
