Giving your turtles different names would be a good start…

Relates to the popular 60’s tune by Herman’s Hermits.

Some kids just shouldn’t have pets.

Yeah, I don’t think that kid should own a turtle or any other pet – unless it’s a pet rock.

Ah, back in the day…when you could walk into any pet shop and buy a baby turtle in one of those ridiculous little plastic “tanks”..No one worried about E. Coli infections if you actually played with the poor little beast before it died…which it did, of course. Those little plastic dishes were too shallow and open to the air, and those wretched “ant eggs” they sold as turtle food had all the nutritional value of styrofoam, so early death was a given, by malnutrition, or simply catching a cold — reptiles don’t handle an upper respiratory tract infection very well at all.,Sad, actually, how many baby turtles had to die without it dawning on anyone that they’re actually not good casual pets…they can be very rewarding, but they’re high-maintenance if you’re going to do it right and have them live past infancy.

Maybe Red’s friend should name his next turtle, Lucky. It might improve its life expectancy!

At least a dog makes it VERY OBVIOUS if you forget to feed it. It’s much harder to ignore than a hungry turtle!
