I thought it was the males who were the ones with the “show-off” nature in the peacock kingdom? The females were fairly plain, but the males showed off to try to win the females affection? Kind of the opposite of the humans…
I can’t think of a single species, other than humans, where the female is the showoff. It’s usually the male who wears the bright colours and wears stiletto heels. Um, so to speak. I’ve never seen a lion wear heels, or a lioness. :)
