Robert W. Troup’s “Daddy,” 1941. Recorded by Swing and Sway With Sammy Kaye and the Kay Choir on March 31, 1941. Released April 25 on the Victor 78 rpm disc 27391, side A. Side B was “Two Hearts That Pass in the Night.” Yes, Troup’s wife Julie London recorded it too, for her album “Julie”: October, 1957, monaural (the next year released in stereo as well). Yes, there’s a short film.
