Roy is naive and innocent. And yes, the Simpsons ain’t what it used to be.

Jay. You can say what you want about the Great Pumpkin not being real, but you’ll never convince Linus of that. He is steadfast in his beliefs & nothing you say will change his mind.

If you’re following the Peanuts reruns on the site, Linus has just sunk his chance to be school president by stopping in his final campaign speech for a few words about the Great Pumpkin. Candidates have been blown out of the water for less.

Ah, but followers of the Flying Spagetti Monster have wreaked no havoc on the world. His Noodly Goodness inspires no hatred or discontent.

I actually find the Simpsons, though not what it was in its prime still a show worth watching as it does constantly generate more laughs than just about any other show on TV. I do find Modern Family, Raising Hope and Psych funnier.

As for Roy, no he is not an idiot but his glasses are especially rose colored.

I could make a list of the gags and schtick that later writers brought to the Simpsons that veer away from, as burleigh2 said, the spark the show had. But I won’t take the space here!

C’mon people, the Great Pumpkin is REAL, and now we know why. Didn’t anyone see Tim Burton’s 1993 film on how he got his start?
