I always looked forward to Andy’s segments. They wree a fitting end to the show.

Interesting that Andy Rooney died today – October 5, 2011.

Greetings, posters. Glenn here. A word of explanation; I drew this strip three weeks ago. A week later when I learned that Mr. Rooney was ill I phoned my Syndicate and asked them to change the name to Mickey Roarke. I don’t know what happened but this has to be the worst timed comic strip in history.

Understood man. Hope you don’t get too much grief from people who don’t understand timing. Some days you’re the dog, some days you’re the hydrant.

Mickey Roarke must be thanking the Gods right now that you didn’t use his name.

@Glenn—-If Andy was any kind of humorist at all I bet he finds this hilarious!!! Don’t beat yourself up over it!!!

@Glenn – as has been noted above, Andy had a great sense of humor and would have found the timing ironic – not offensive. IMO, its a nice, well-timed tribute.

I hope this escapes the wrong kind of attention. it’s just a timing mishap.

Glenn, Don’t worry about it. Consider it a tribute. Honoring Andy Rooney was my first thought untill I realized that this strip had to be prepared far in advance.

Yeah, no worries. Your strip is excellent so those who dis you will just look petty. Besides, the resemblence is really acurate and he would have had a chuckle.

Turns out the Mickey Roarke version ran in the papers so only my more attractive on-line readers saw this snafu.

Huh…. In between the time I first looked at the strip and then peered at the comments, the syndicate changed the strip from Andy Rooney to Micky Roarke, according to Glenn’s instructions from a couple of weeks ago. So much for letting fate have it’s way.

A real coincidence of timing. No offense taken.

Ahhhh, poor Andy……..he will be sadly missed!

Oooops. Andy Rooney just passed away. Probably TOO timely.

And now they have “Mickey Roarke.”I agree with the others that Andy would’ve liked the irony.

Well that was strange. I saw it change from Andy to Mickey. Glad I saw the original. Most people know the timing of the strips if you have been reading them for a while. I too think Andy would have enjoyed it!

It was most unfortunate that the strip was first released as Andy Rooney, as he passed away last night [Friday 11/4] at the age of 92.However, I applaud that this was caught and the strip was changed to Mickey Rourke, hopefully before too wide a distribution.

Let’s hope nothing happens to Mickey Rourke, or we know you’ve got really bad luck Glenn!

Glenn, Reminds me of South Parks Best Friends Episode, a few hours after it aired Terri Shivo died. Consider it a tribute considering you drew it when he retired.

Sometimes I loved him.Sometimes I hated him.But this is a fitting tribute.P.S. Mike Wallace is going to investigate you.

When I first read this strip this morning, I was not aware of Andy Rooney’s passing. I still say I loved his work. If the meat of Sixty Minutes didn’t give you a laugh (and it usually didn’t), Andy short segment at the end was always good for a chuckle or two.

That said, I also think he would have enjoyed it, as I did.

Mickey Rourke is an actor who was quite a nice looking fellow (see Diner and 9 1/2 weeks) until he decided to become a boxer (see The Wrestler).

Can you think of a better person to caricature as a tribute to his wonderful humor? Imagine how huge the eyebrows would be?

I wonder if that guy who picks the games on FOX NFL Sunday will do Andy tomorrow.

could be wrong.. often am… but didn’t the same (similar) thing just happen to Dilbert and Bill Gates?

I just read this on Yahoo and it still has Andy Rooney. I know these strips are done three weeks ahead, so no offense. I thought it was just fine and not offensive at all.
